TROUBLESHOOTING

The following chart shows some troubleshooting activities an operator or maintenance person can easily accomplish.
Troubleshooting activities that go beyond the scope of those listed below are to be undertaken with input from
Kinematic Automation Service Personnel.

DESCRIPTION

WHERE TO TROUBLESHOOT

Machine does not initialize

Check power and air connections

Air pressure loss

Check air connection
Check pressure regulator

Cards do not move toward the front of card magazine

Check left and right card sensors
Check motor connections
Check fuses

Cards do not get picked out of card magazine.

Check for vacuum leaks
Check vacuum switch
Check card pick position

Card does not get transported to walking beam

Check actuator switch

Cards ‘bow’ when placed on infeed platen.

Check down stop adjustment on rotary actuator
Readjust card transfer assemblies

Cut Module motor does not run

Check fuse
Check drive motor
Check wiring

Infeed card walking beam  does not move up or down

Check for jammed card
Check air connections

Material sticks to blades , probably caused by build-up of glue & dust on blades

Clean blades with denatured alcohol

Card Present Sensor not function, may be caused by obstruction (dirt) on lens

Clean lens with denatured alcohol

Air pressure fails

Check air connections
Readjust pressure switch, as necessary

Card does not get transported to infeed

Check actuator switch
Check card‑in‑place sensor

Infeed card walking beam does not move up or down

Check for jammed card
Check air connections

Strips do not cut correctly

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE  - Assumes you have preformed this maintenance before and are familiar with this machine.

  • The Matrix 2531 Rotary Slitting Module is designed and constructed to minimize maintenance requirements.

  • The suggested preventive maintenance schedule for the Matrix 2531 Rotary Slitting Module described in the following tables. 

  • The scheduling is only a guideline. 

  • Actual maintenance intervals depend on product parameters and the use of the machine. 

 ELECTRICAL HAZARD:  Disconnect the unit from its power source before beginning any maintenance or repair procedure. 
If a panel is opened, exposure to live electrical circuits is possible. Failure to follow all electrical safety procedures
could result in serious injury or DEATH BY ELECTROCUTION

Exterior Surfaces

Cleaning

Painted and plastic surfaces should be cleaned with a mild cleaning solution

Infeed Assembly

Infeed Platform

Dust off the infeed platenand clean with a mild cleaning solution

Magazine Assembly

Vacuum Cups

Clean with isopropyl alcohol

Magazine Assembly

Optical Sensors

Blow dust off of both sensors with low pressure, clean, dry, filtered air

Anti-static Cups and Pins

Cleaning

Check that the suction cups are not dusty or dirty.  Wipe with a clean, dry cloth.  Gently pick debris out of the cups.  Be careful not to bend or break the pins.

Cut Module

Cleaning

Remove the Cut Module (see instructions in section 8.7), clean glue, dust, and debris from blade faces. Recommended solvents are denatured alcohol, Acetone, or MEK. 
Experimentation with different kinds of solvent may be required to find the appropriate cleaner for the residues from your product. 

Cutting Module Zerk Fittings

Cleaning & Greasing

While the Cut Module is removed, clean and re-grease the bearings with lithium‑based multi‑purpose grease.

Cutting Module Gear Box

Check for oil leaks

If there is a leak in the casing, the motor should be replaced.
