TROUBLESHOOTING

The following chart shows some  activities an operator or maintenance person can easily accomplish.
Troubleshooting activities which go beyond the scope of those listed below are to be undertaken solely with input from
Kinematic Automation Service Personnel.

PROBLEM

WHERE TO LOOK

MAIN FUSE BLOWS WHEN THE MACHINE IS TURNED ON.

Check ac line voltage selector.
Is it set for the correct operating voltage?

THE MACHINE WILL NOT TURN ON WHEN THE  “START” BUTTON IS PRESSED (THE FRONT PANEL SWITCHES ARE NOT LIT).

The EPO button is not pulled out (up).
The switch at the power entry module is turned off (0).
Module is connected to power.

POWER IS “ON”,

(THE FRONT PANEL SWITCHES ARE LIT), BUT THE MACHINE WILL NOT RUN WHEN CYCLE SWITCH IS PRESSED.

The output chute is removed.
The blade (safety) cover is open.

THE MACHINE IS EXCESSIVELY NOISY WHEN THE BLADE MOTOR RUNS.

The blade may have excessive side-to-side play or, if recently adjusted, may be too tight.

THE INDEXER MOTOR RUNS (WHEN CYCLE OR JOG IS PRESSED, THE MOTOR CAN BE HEARD), BUT THE ROLLERS DO NOT ROTATE TO DRIVE STOCK.

Check the setscrews on the drive pulleys.
Check belt condition.

MACHINE STOPS MID-RUN

Check the static cups and interior of the machine for cleanliness.  Clean if necessary

THE PRODUCT SLIPS IN THE ROLLERS
(STRIP WIDTH IS NOT CONSISTENT).

Clean the rollers with alcohol.
Check the spring pressure on the drive rollers.
Check belt and pulleys.

There are four (4) fuses in the machine.  When troubleshooting, be sure to check them first,
if you cannot turn the power on, and the EPO and safety interlocks have been checked

  •  The first two, designated 1FU and 2FU are located in the power entry module.
They are GMC-5, five ampere, 5mm X 20mm, fast acting fuses.

  •  3FU is located in a DIN rail-mounted fuse block on the left side of the PCB.
        It is a  GBD-5A, five ampere, 5mm X 20mm, SLO-BLO fuse.

  •  4FU is on the upper left of the PCB, and is a .25” X 1.25”, five ampere, fast blow fuse.

  •  Fuses FU1, FU2, FU3, and FU4 may be purchased locally.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE  - Assumes you have preformed this maintenance before and are familiar with this machine.

Turn the power off before beginning any preventive maintenance procedure.

MAINTENANCE OBJECT

FREQUENCY / PROCEDURE

DRIVE ROLLERS

DAILY: Clean the drive rollers with a soft cloth soaked with denatured alcohol.
Use a soft brush and alcohol to clean the bottom roller of excess glue buildup.

ANTI-STATIC BAR CUPS

DAILY: Clean the cups, inside and out, using a fine, medium‑stiff brush and denatured alcohol.
Be sure not to bend the rod inside the cups.  If the rod is bent, straighten it carefully (avoid breakage).

BLADE ASSEMBLY

DAILY: Clean the exposed surfaces in and around the blade area using a soft cloth and/or cotton swabs and denatured alcohol (no water!).

             CAUTION - Blades are sharp!

BLADE ASSEMBLY

WEEKLY: Lubricate the blade assembly (without disassembly) using a spray-type lithium grease, mostly in the tracks.
